It is one of those tasks that hardly, if EVER, get done!
I moved in the past year, and you would think while I went through piles and piles of “things” and threw out many of them, I would have done the same with my big ol’ sock pile. Nope. Not me. Sure, let’s take about a 100 single socks to my next location! Hey, their other halves may have found their way their first. I mean really, what was I thinking!?
So FINALLY, about a year later, enough was enough. Last night was the night I tackled the lonely pairs of single socks that were practically spilling out of the sock bin.
It’s a tedious task, no doubt – but wow, once it’s done you feel so much better. As I sifted through the socks, I found myself hanging on to some socks that I knew I would never wear again, socks that I knew I would never find the other half of. I had to remind myself that they were socks for crying out loud – SOCKS – not sentimental things.
Sticking to my guns reminding myself that if I’m in desperate need of toe socks, or brown socks, or dress socks (which I never wear!), I can buy a pair if I really wanted to! My sock drawer had so much more room afterwards, and I was able to actually match and pair up socks that make it so much easier to find.
So my advice to you is don’t wait any longer…throw out the socks, buy new ones, and make your life that much more simple and clutter-free!
Now the task is keeping them together.
