According to a recent report published by the United States Census Bureau, the poverty rate climbed to 15.1% in 2010 – the highest level since 1993 – with more than 16 million children under 18 living in poverty. This means an estimated 1 in 4 children may not have a gift to open on Christmas morning. Given these statistics, and as a company committed to helping kids in need, we are more motivated than ever to help provide toys through our eighth annual nationwide fundraising campaign to benefit the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. And – “Shaq-A-Claus is Coming to Town” once again to help raise awareness!
Beginning today, Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us stores will serve as the holiday giving headquarters by collecting new, unwrapped toys in stores nationwide through Sunday, December 4. Monetary donations will also be accepted in stores and online at Toysrus.com/ToysforTots through Christmas Eve. All of the toys that are collected will be distributed to children in the communities where they are donated, making this a truly local program.
